My Westie pup has Demadex Mange. I had no idea as to what this was until I persisted with my vet to sc a skin sample again after only 5 days from the first scraping. Finally the microscope confirmed Demadex Mange. He dipped him that day and my dog was sick and has not been himself for three days. He is slowly coming back to his placeful self, but the vet said he will have to be dipped again in two weeks in addtion to another scraping. If the scraping is negative, then he will be dipped one final time. I am concerned if these chemicals will hurt his internal organs. Also , they told me that this disease is transmitted from the parent primarily the mother and shows up when the dog experiences stress. My vet insured me that most dogs do not experience it again once the mite is gone. Is this correct. I love my dog but am concerned if we are going to have to be plagued by continual vet bills. My dog is spoiled rotten, how can he be overstressed?
