Throw out Newtonian mechanics? No, they explain so many things beautifully. No, look for a way to explain the discrepancy. Some mutations will have a beneficial : effect(not likely), some will cause no apparent : effect(silent mutations), and others will be : detrimental to the organism. This all depends, : of course, if the gene is expressed in the animal, : which are only visible clue that a new allele is : present in the population.
